| 1948-49 - Packard 22nd Series
Super 8 Sedan This is a #5 car. It was purchased new in Ohio,
went to Florida in the early '50's then North to upstate New York in the
'80's and recently to Connecticut. Was originally "Putty" in color. Now
maroon and tired. Reupholstered many years ago and still in reasonable
shape. Door panels and headliner need replacing. Engine appears to be stuck
but was turning when parked in the late '80's. I have filled the cylinders
with WD40 and we will see. No water in the sump, just old oil. A good sign.
All the dash plastic and knobs are there. All the dash chrome is there.
All the controls are stiff but there and whole. All the glass is there
and clear. All the stainless is on the car. The chrome is old but relitively
unpitted and only showing rust in a few low places. There are NO dents
or dings in the coach anywhere except ONE dent low on the left front wheel
opening which can be straightened. The metal is not wrinkled. The sheet
metal "fit" on this car is amazing considering it's 54 years old. There
is no door "droop" when you open them; not even the drivers door. The undercarrige
of the car is covered with surface rust but appears to be solid. No bubbles
or holes in the lower fenders or rockers. This 2202 has the 9 main bearing
8 cylinder engine. All the pieces are on the engine. Even stuck the engine
is a winner. Relitively easy to rebuild and the quietest engine Packard
ever built when it's done. If you are restoring another 2202, 2222, 2232
or a Super 8 Formal Sedan or Limosine the parts from this car fit yours.
The tires hold air and she rolls fine. If you are a real adventurer with
the whole winter to fool around with this beast you could make a driver
out of it. All the pieces are there. Asking $1,500.00. I will listen to
alloffers. You may call me at 800/582-3622 to ask questions or email me
